Our Students : Beauty in Diversity
Indigenous people
come from all over Australia to study at Nungalinya
College. Indeed, one of our students even came from
the Solomon Islands! Obviously, because of our
location, the majority of our students come from
either communities in the North, the Sea People, or
from the Deserts of the Centre, the Desert People.
Students are from both
remote and urban communities and their cultural lives
are respected and included in campus life.
Many students are
mature-aged and hold positions of authority in their own
communities. Nungalinya College respects these elders
and the traditional wisdom they possess. We recognise
that they are best placed to pass on what they learn to
their young people.
Most students already
possess many skills and great knowledge in other fields.
Their life experiences and insights are an important
resource in the courses.

Flexible Delivery
Many of our students are
from remote areas and have family and community
commitments. Nungalinya College caters to these needs by
offering course by mixed mode delivery. This involves
study back at base with intensives at the Nungalinya
campus in Darwin.
Nungalinya College
employs Indigenous and non-Indigenous teaching and
support staff. Some of the teaching staff are sponsored
by affiliated churches. It is important we employ
Indigenous staff and offer them training to enhance
their career opportunities.
