Job Vacancy - Principal

Nungalinya College is seeking a Principal to lead the college in its growing and crucial ministry with Indigenous adults.

THE COLLEGE

Nungalinya College is an exciting and unique place, run by the Anglican, Catholic and Uniting Churches to provide Biblical, theological, leadership and community development training to Indigenous adults from remote communities and from urban areas across Australia. Nungalinya is a Registered Training Organisation and provides a range of accredited courses reflecting the demands of our Indigenous clients. The college is situated in Darwin’s northern suburbs and provides hostel accommodation and meals for up to 100 students who attend for blocks of study away from their home communities.

Nungalinya has a long history of providing training for students who speak Indigenous languages as their first language and a policy to cater for those with limited literacy and academic backgrounds. The ecumenical cooperation among staff and students is a powerful realisation of the college’s Christian ideals.

The college has developed a new constitution and strategic plan. Collaborative approaches in leading implementation of the directions contained in these documents is a focus for the coming years.

THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL BE:

  • A committed Christian

  • An educational leader, preferably with a strong commitment to Indigenous education

  • Experienced in management at a senior level, preferably within an educational environment

  • Committed to quality systems to achieve college aims and objectives

  • Capable of working within an ecumenical and cross cultural environment
