Just this week, we received the first significant rains here at Nungalinya College. Anyone who has lived in the tropics will appreciate the relief that the first rain brings after a hot and steamy period of anticipation. As well as a welcome relief from the heat, the rains also bring long-awaited nourishment to the dry and parched earth.

Many Indigenous people speak of the cleansing of the new rains, washing away the sickness, sadness and pain that has gone before, and bringing a new season of growth.

Even the animals were pleased to see the rain, with some lapwings having a lovely bath in the puddles!
